London - The British Red Cross is battling anti-smoking group ASH over hundreds of postcards produced by the latter featuring a pair of underpants with a red cross across their centre, a British newspaper said yesterday. ASH has produced the postcards, which have been distributed in cinemas, to highlight the fact that smoking can cause male sexual impotence, the Independent on Sunday said.
But the Red Cross has instructed its lawyers to get ASH to take its symbol off the postcards since it says the use of the red cross emblem outside its correct context could endanger the lives of people on the battlefield, the newspaper said.
