Farmers are planning toe invest a record £256 million on farm buildings this year, according to Mr Tom Ryan of Teagasc, the Agriculture and Food Development Authority.
Much of the investment arises from the need to improve wintering facilities and control pollution. Much of the work All be done by farm building contractors, said Mr Ryan, and Teagasc has organised seminars aimed at updating the contractors on aspects of design and construction.
The seminars will run from February 27th to March 14th.
