There was one winner of yesterday´s Lotto jackpot of €18.9 million, the highest single total since the game begane 20 years ago. The winning ticket was sold in Carlow.
The six winning numbers were sold at Hickson’s Centra store on the Staplestown Road last Wednesday.
Rumour and speculation has been rife as to the identity of the winner. But co-owner of the store PJ Hickson warned the lucky punter could simply have been passing through.
“We’re on the main road to Rosslare here, so who knows?” he said.
“But anybody who has gone away today is being considered. We genuinely don’t know. There’s loads of different rumours.”
The winning ticket was a €32 euro multi-draw quick pick.
The National Lottery said the ticket holder has three months to collect their prize of €18.9 millon and urged players to check their tickets.
Around 3,500 people bought a line in the jackpot every minute during peak time on Saturday in the run up to the draw.
The prize fund had rolled over for 16 draws since May 3rd.
