Paris - Investigators examining the accident which killed Diana, Princess of Wales, last night staged a reconstruction of the crash. The examining magistrate, Mr Herve Stephan, and other investigators travelled to the tunnel under the Alma Bridge in central Paris to begin the reconstruction shortly before 9 p.m.
Earlier yesterday, investigators said it appeared that excessive speed and alcohol were to blame for the fatal crash on August 31st rather than the pursuing paparazzi. These findings make it unlikely that the nine photographers and one photo agency motorcyclist formally targeted in the investigation will be brought to trial on charges of manslaughter, in the opinion of their lawyers.
The chauffeur, Mr Henri Paul, who died in the August 31st Paris crash along with Diana and her companion, Mr Dodi Fayed, was driving "at a very high speed" and had a criminal level of alcohol in his blood, investigators have found.
