. December: Brixton escapers Nessan Quinlivan and Pearse McCauley are brought before Dublin District Court and orders made for their extradition to Britain. Both men have appealed and are on bail in the Republic pending the outcome of their High Court hearing which could take up to 12 months.
. December: A man facing extradition to Northern Ireland is allowed to challenge a District Court order for his extradition. Mr John Joseph Lloyd, with an address at Aghahallon, Craigavon, had been jailed for assault with intent to rob and failed to return after being given temporary release from Magilligan Prison, Co Derry, in September. His counsel says the warrant did not comply with the 1965 Extradition Act. August An Antrim man is extradited to face a murder charge in Northern Ireland. Mr James Valliday (33) was arrested in Dublin and sent North to face a murder charge.
. July: High Court orders an inquiry into the detention of a man awaiting an extradition challenge. Mr Justice Lavan grants an interim injunction preventing the extradition of Mr Michael Keith Thynne who escaped from prison in England in January.
. June: High Court refuses to extradite to Northern Ireland a Belfast man who escaped from Crumlin Road prison in 1981. The judge says a long lapse of time and other exceptional circumstances meant extradition would be unjust. Mr Angelo Fusco (38) with an address in Monavalley, Tralee, Co Kerry, was challenging the extradition order made in Dublin District Court in 1991.
. June: A Donegal man is extradited from England to face rape, incest and indecent assault charges at Raphoe District Court in Co Donegal.
. June: A Dundalk farmer, Mr John Oliver Byrne, of Strand field House, Mountpleasant, Dundalk, applies for bail pending his appeal against his extradition to Northern Ireland for the alleged evasion of £1.1 million in customs duty. A Fine Gael TD, Mr Brcndan McGahon, agrees to put up £10,000 bail.
. January: The Supreme Court rules that gardai made a mistake when they applied to the district court for a warrant for the arrest of a man wanted by the RUC in connection with the murder of a woman. The court orders the release of Mr Daniel Francis Larkin, Boyle O'Reilly Terrace, Dundalk, Co Louth.
1994:
Warrants for the extradition of 26 people were received from the UK and 12 people were extradited to Britain and Northern Ireland. In two cases warrants were not endorsed and were returned to Britain on the advice of the Attorney General.
1993:
Five people extradited to England in relation to a range of offences, including attempted rape, buggery, manslaughter and murder.
