Colombo - The Tamil Tigers' leader yesterday met Norway's peace envoy to Sri Lanka and put forward conditions for opening negotiations, the rebels said. Mr Velupillai Prabhakaran, the elusive leader of the separatist Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), met Mr Erik Solheim in the rebel-held region of Malawi yesterday, the rebels said in a statement from their London office. Mr Solheim, accompanied by the Norwegian ambassador to Sri Lanka, Mr Jon Westborg, and executive officer of Oslo's foreign ministry, Ms Kjersti Tromsdal, crossed over to the rebel-held north on Tuesday and held talks yesterday.
