‘Real IRA’ suspects to face Old Bailey trial

Three men accused of arms offences linked to the "Real IRA" will go on trial at the Old Bailey in London in April.

Three men accused of arms offences linked to the "Real IRA" will go on trial at the Old Bailey in London in April.

The Recorder of London, Judge Michael Hyam, remanded the men in custody.

They will make a further appearance on December 10th, when they are expected to enter a plea to six charges before their trial, set down to start on April 9th next year.

Mr Fintan Paul O'Farrell (35) Mr Declan John Rafferty (41) and Mr Christopher McDonald (44), all from Co Louth, were arrested in a small spa town in Slovakia on July 5th after allegedly trying to procure arms.

The three, who were extradited to Britain last month, are charged with offences including belonging to the IRA and conspiring to buy weapons for terrorism.
