The sighting of a rat has led to the closure of a staff canteen at St Joseph's psychiatric hospital in Limerick.
The Mid-Western Health Board stated the closure of the temporary canteen was a precautionary measure. "No patients have been affected, as patient meals are supplied directly by St Camillus' Hospital," the board stated.
Mr Tony Doody, SIPTU secretary of the Limerick nursing branch, called for the resignation of the psychiatric services executive because of the staff hall conditions.
