A CONVICTED rapist has been jailed for 2½ years for assaulting another woman with the intent to sexually assault her.

A CONVICTED rapist has been jailed for 2½ years for assaulting another woman with the intent to sexually assault her.

Simon Maguire (41) of Woodland Park, Dundalk tried to tie up his victim with the belt from her trousers.

The traumatised woman told gardaí she thought he was going to kill her and she believed he wanted to have sex with her.

The 37-year-old woman rang the Garda after getting her mobile phone from her jacket.

Dundalk Circuit Criminal Court heard she had met Maguire on the March 4th, 2008 at The Square in Dundalk where she was sitting. He began talking to her and they went to an off-licence and bought drink and got a taxi to a bungalow.
