Bogota - At least 37 people, mostly civilians, including a labour leader, died in the latest wave of political bloodshed across Colombia, authorities said yesterday.
Police and military spokesmen said the victims included 10 leftist rebels killed in two clashes with troops in the southern province of Putumayo and the north-western one of Antioquia.
The worst violence took place on Sunday, when right-wing death squads killed at least 21 unarmed civilians in two attacks in northern Colombia.
