A rail worker charged with a string of sex attacks across the southeast of England has been remanded in custody after making a brief court appearance today.
Mr Antoni Imiela (48), of Ashford, Kent, was charged with kidnap, assault and attempted rape on Sunday over an alleged incident in the Birmingham area on November 21st.
He was arrested earlier this month and charged with nine sex attacks on women and young girls aged between 10 and 52 over an 11-month period.
A spokesman at Greenwich Magistrates' Court said Mr Imiela spoke only to give his full name and date of birth. His case is set for another hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on December 30th.
Police have said that the attacker in the rape cases took souvenir clothing items from some victims, earning him the nickname the "Trophy Rapist".
The attacks spurred police to launch the biggest manhunt of its kind since the infamous "Yorkshire Ripper" serial murder case 20 years ago.
