Three armed and masked men hijacked an An Post lorry in Dublin and tied up staff before escaping with a small quantity of cigarettes and some mail and parcels. The delivery lorry was hijacked on Wednesday evening. They forced the driver out of the lorry and bundled him into the back of a rented lorry. A security man was also tied up.
The men were driven around for about two hours before the rented lorry was abandoned. Neither was injured.
The raiders escaped with about 1,000 cigarettes, mail and some parcels which had been bound for the Bray sorting office. The lorry did not contain any cash. The rented lorry was examined in Clondalkin Garda station. The SDS lorry had not been located yesterday.
