Argentina was literally pipped at post by New Zealand yesterday, when the All Blacks edged ahead in the dying minutes of their test match to win 24-20.

Argentina, who boast one of the most feared packs in world rugby, had fancied their chances of a major upset against the visitors after their two-test success in Britain -- and only relinquished their lead in injury time.

Some 55,000 mostly Argentine fans were ecstatic at what appeared to be the first Puma victory over the All blacks in 15 years, when a Scott Robertson try converted by Andrew Mehrtens silenced the stadium.

Argentina caught New Zealand off guard with a strong offensive at the start, and was 10-8 ahead at half-time despite an early try by towering winger Jonah Lomu.
