Armed raiders tied up the owner of a Co Louth pub and stole cash and jewellery last night.

The four men went into the pub in the seaside town of Carlingford shortly before midnight and confronted a man and woman.

One of the raiders is believed to have been armed with a hand gun, the others with baseball bats. They tied up the man and forced the female to hand over cash and jewelery.

They left in a dark-coloured car. Gardaí in Dundalk are investigating.
