Two men have been arrested after a PSNI officer was hit by a suspected stolen car in north Belfast this morning.

The officer had his leg broken in two places after he was struck by the vehicle as he attempted to speak to the occupants of the car on New Lodge Road at around 3.10am.

Police believe the silver-coloured Skoda car was taken earlier in the night during a burglary in the Ardglass area.

The car was later found abandoned at Durham Street, and two men were arrested a short distance away on Ardmoulin Place.
