The death of a 41-year-old man in Coleraine was being investigated by police tonight.

The death of a 41-year-old man in Coleraine was being investigated by police tonight.

The man was found dead in a house in the Ballysally area of the Co Derry town in mid-afternoon by a member of the public who alerted police.

A PSNI spokeswoman said officers were investigating the circumstances of the death.

Meanwhile a man arrested on Sunday following the death of prison officer William Guy across the county in Magherafelt was released tonight pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

The 47-year-old recently engaged warder was found at the bottom of a flight of stairs in a property a short distance from his home in the town.

Police also announced they had called off an investigation into a third death following the post-mortem examination on the victim showed there had been no foul play.

Suspicions had been initially aroused over the death of a 43-year-old woman found dead after a fire at a house in the Smithfield Road area of Lisburn, co Antrim yesterday.
