LONDON - A prowler broke into the Kensington Palace home of the Princess of Wales and later escaped unnoticed, the Mirror newspaper reported early today. The man, dressed in black, climbed a wall and forced a lock, then lingered for 30 minutes in a cellar near the princess's apartment, the newspaper said.
The break-in - which occurred late on Sunday - triggered burglar alarms. But despite this, staff failed to check a security camera - allowing the intruder to remain in the palace for another half an hour, said the paper. Special Branch officers with sniffer dogs were afterwards called in.
