Chilpancingo - The new governor of Mexico's violencetorn and impoverished Guerrero state took office yesterday amid noisy protests by thousands of leftist opponents charging his campaign used foul play.
Ruling Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) officials flew by helicopter over a police cordon to accompany Mr Rene Juarez as he took the oath of office. The US State Department had advised its citizens not to travel to Acapulco or other resorts in the province this week.
