A PROSTITUTE who stole £85 from a prospective client has been jailed for three years.
Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard that when Michelle Donovan sat into the man's car at Percy Place, Dublin, another man and a woman also jumped in. The man held a knife to the driver's neck while Donovan ordered him to drive to a laneway.
Donovan took £85 from him while the male accomplice went through his jacket for bank cards. The driver was ordered out of the car and the male culprit drove it away. It was later recovered.
Det Garda James Nolan told Mr Tom O'Connell, prosecuting, he arrested Donovan at Percy Place some weeks afterwards. He recognised her from the victim's description.
Donovan (18), from O'Devany Gardens, Dublin, admitted robbing the man on August 17th, 1995.
Judge Cyril Kelly noted she was a teenage prostitute and drug addict who had had a difficult childhood. Her guilty plea had saved the victim the embarrassment of having to give evidence. The offence was very serious. He set March 3rd next for a sentence review. His decision then would depend on satisfactory reports.
