Gardai in Cork are looking for a man who fled from Cork University Hospital on Sunday having been admitted for a stab wound to his left hand. Christopher Keohane (26), who lived at various addresses in the city, was serving five years in Cork prison for burglary and was due to face charges concerning armed robbery offences.

A woman has since been arrested by the Garda authorities in Cork.

Keohane was wearing a dark jacket, blue jeans and white Nike runners when he fled from the hospital. He was brought there in handcuffs but they were removed to enable medical treatment to be administered. He ran away during treatment at the accident and emergency facility.
