PRISON officer representatives will be debating proposals on strike action in the coming weeks if their claim for pay parity with the nurses unions is rejected, reports Jim Cusack, Security Correspondent.
The Prison Officers' Association (POA) is meeting the official Arbitration Board today to put its case for a basic pay increase which would bring its members' pay back in line with the increases granted by Government to the nurses.
The POA negotiators are understood to be seeking a 17 per cent pay increase, which they say is due under the parity arrangements with the nurses.
