MR PETER PRINGLE, who spent 15 years in prison before his conviction for the murder of a garda was quashed, is to seek an interlocutory injunction to stop the sales of a book, the High Court was told yesterday.

Mr Justice Barron gave leave for Mr Pringle to serve short notice for tomorrow to seek an interlocutory injunction restraining the sale of It Was Murder, by John Courtney, and its publisher, Folens Publishing Company, trading as Blackwater Press, Airton Road, Tallaght.

Mr Anthony Sammon SC, for Mr Pringle, said on November 26th last Mr Pringle became aware of the publication of the book and that it contained references to him which he had been advised were defamatory of him.

Asked if there was ongoing civil litigation concerning Mr Pringle, Mr Sammon said the Supreme Court had reserved judgment on an appeal on behalf of Mr Pringle for compensation from the State following the quashing of his conviction.
