A Cork born priest has been arrested by Yorkshire police and questioned in connection with alleged sexual offences in the Leeds area in the mid 1970s.
West Yorkshire police confirmed yesterday that they had arrested a 71 year old man at his home in Sussex last month, but would not name him. A spokesman said he had been released on police bail and had to report back to the police in March.
A spokesman for the Bishop of Leeds, Dr David Konstant, told the Yorkshire Post last week that the bishop was "fully aware of the investigation" but could not comment for legal reasons.
