A 53 year old Catholic priest appeared before Dublin District Court yesterday on 13 charges of indecent assault on boys aged 13 or 14, between 1968 and 1987 in the Dublin area.
The priest, with a Dublin address, was charged by Det Sgt Brian Sherry, of Howth Garda Station.
Defence solicitor Mr Bobby Eagar said his client's name was not to be published in reports as this would be a section of the 1990 Rape Act.
Judge Desmond Hogan remanded him until February 24th next and agreed that the defendant's name was not to be published. He granted him bail in his own bond of £200 with an independent surety of £1,000, and approved his sister, from Co Kildare, as bailsperson.
