The President, Mrs McAleese, required several days of physiotherapy after a skiing accident in the French Alps before Christmas.
Mrs McAleese, who returned from a holiday last Saturday, was taken to a clinic after the accident near the French-Swiss border on December 20th. There were no serious injuries, however, and although she was fitted with a neck support, she was walking the next day and skiing two days later.
The Government was informed immediately of the accident and discussed it briefly at the December 21st Cabinet meeting.
Mrs McAleese was walking on a slope when she was hit by a skier. The other person also survived the incident without injury.
