A 32 year old lay preacher was jailed for two years in Armagh Crown Court yesterday when he admitted six sex offences against an 11 year old boy.
Judge John Petrie banned publication of the defendant's name. He agreed with Mr Tony Cinnamond QC, defending, it would be in the interest of the victim that no details which would lead to him being identified should be published.
The accused man admitted indecently assaulting the victim, now aged 16, at various locations in Co Down between January 1990 and December 1991.
Mr Jeffrey Millar, prosecuting, said the defendant had gone to the police and confessed to the assaults after being confronted by the boy's father.
