A powerful bomb blast rattled the foundations of a shopping centre in the Danish capital today, wounding the suspected bomb-maker and forcing authorities to shore up the building's damaged structure.
The injured 23-year-old man was in critical condition in hospital with fractures and burns, police said.
They believe he was setting the bomb in the building's underground section when it went off prematurely.
A witness said he saw the man and a companion - whom he said also appeared to have been hurt in the explosion - trying to get into the shopping centre before the blast. The mall houses several businesses, including a bank.
The Ritzau news agency said firemen had to reinforce the building's walls after the explosion out of fear the walls would collapse.
