Up to 30,000 homes in south Dublin lost power yesterday after an underground electrical cable was damaged.
The Electricity Supply Board said power was restored after about an hour to homes in Kimmage, Crumlin, Terenure, Templeogue, Milltown, Rathgar, Rathfarnham and Goatstown.
An ESB spokesman said no one was injured in the incident, caused when a JCB working for a non-ESB firm hit the 38kv cable at Kimmage at 2.30pm. Power was restored by 3:30pm.
