The results of postmortems on a woman and her two sons found dead in Dublin are expected today.
Mary Keegan (41) and her sons Glen (10) and Andrew (6) were found dead in the kitchen of their home at Killakee Walk, Firhouse, yesterday morning.
It is understood they died of knife wounds. Gardaí are not looking for anybody else in connection with the incident.
The bodies were removed to Tallaght General Hospital. Deputy State Pathologist Dr Michael Curtis was due to carry out one postmortem at the hospital last night and was expected to examine the other two bodies this morning.
Mrs Keegan's husband, Brian, returned to the house from a business trip to the United States yesterday morning and raised the alarm when he could not gain entry.
Gardaí then forced their way into the house and discovered the three bodies.
A technical examination was carried out yesterday at the family home and this will continue throughout today.
Local priest Father Patrick Madden said the entire community was deeply shocked by the incident. "I think also there's a feeling a numbness and for some people great distress," he said. "This tragedy . . . has really affected the community widely."
Fr Madden said the children were very well-liked by their fellow pupils. "This morning we are praying for them and praying for all those who are grieving this morning," he added.
Both schools attended by the boys remained open today, and Department of Education psychologists are in place there.
