Postal workers formed a guard of honour in Limerick yesterday at the funeral of a colleague who died last week after he was knocked down while on duty.

Damien Parker, Singland, Limerick, died after his bicycle was struck by a car as he delivered mail in the Ennis Road area of the city.

He is survived by his wife Tanya and their twins Scott and Cerys (5).

Dozens of postal workers provided a guard of honour at his funeral Mass at St John’s Cathedral yesterday. An Post chief executive Donal Connell attended. In his homily, Fr Liam Enright spoke of Mr Parker’s love for his family.
