BELGRADE - President Slobodan Milosevic of Serbia, seeking a fresh power base, is expected to make a smooth transition to Yugoslavia's newly-vacated federal presidency next month, political sources said yesterday.
Mr Milosevic, the candidate of the ruling Socialist Party (SPS), is expected to face little opposition in replacing outgoing President Mr Zoran Lilic, whose term of office expired on Wednesday. The Serbian constitution forbids Mr Milosevic from seeking a third term as the republic's President.
