VICTORIA BECKHAM arrived in Dublin with her baby daughter, Harper, yesterday morning to attend a runway show of her autumn-winter 2012 collection at Brown Thomas on Grafton Street.

Harper, who celebrated her first birthday earlier this month, took her first steps in public in the store, and they were beamed around the world via the internet.

Beckham kept her fans updated with her movements via Twitter. Earlier in the day she shared a picture of herself having make-up applied aboard the private aircraft en route to Dublin.

On Tuesday, she tweeted: “So excited to be visiting @brownthomas in Dublin this week!!! What is the weather like?? What should I wear???”

She opted for a €2,450 black coat from her Victoria Beckham collection.

The star-turned-designer flew in for only a few hours to meet the fashion press and more than 50 customers who have supported her fashion brands.

The mother of four has a special connection to Ireland as she held her wedding to football star David Beckham in Luttrellstown Castle in 1999.

“Myself and David really, really love Dublin. That’s why we got married here, so it’s a real treat to come back,” she said.

On her walkabout in the store, she met some fans including Niamh Carbery (3) from Carlingford in Co Louth, whom she took up into her arms. The young Carbery was on a family day out with her mother Orla, who was celebrating her birthday, and her father Brendan.

Beckham tweeted an image of Niamh and added: “Super young fashionistas in Dublin!! X vb” Instead of slamming it to the left, or indeed shaking it to the right, the former Spice Girl pouted from left to right for the cameras.

Then the erstwhile popstar met the fashion press and conducted an “in conversation” interview with RTÉ’s Claire Byrne.

“I want to empower women. I want women to feel good about themselves and feel beautiful,” she said.

Beckham attended a champagne and canapes reception at 2pm, where she met customers who have been supportive of her two clothing lines, her original Victoria Beckham brand – which sells for between €1,200 and €2,550 at Brown Thomas – and her newer Victoria, Victoria Beckham label, which is more affordable.
