Proposals for the development of the Irish film industry would soon be brought to Government for consideration, the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands, Ms de Valera, promised.
She said the proposals would be substantially based on some 20 recommendations in the report drawn up by the film industry strategic review group, including suggestions for skills development and training. She also called on local authorities to establish their own film commissions.
Mr Michael D Higgins (Labour, Galway West) asked if she planned to encourage local authorities to do so, as he believed Wicklow and Wexford were the only authorities to do so to date.
"And Kerry," said Mr Donal Carey (FG, Clare).
