THERE would be a minimum of disruption to trade and access to affected streets in the construction of the Dublin light rail system, the Minister for Transport, Energy & Communications said. Mr Lowry said CIE had engaged French consultants, Semaly, who had extensive international expertise on light rail systems and were involved in all aspects of the Dublin project.

Introducing the Transport (Dublin Light Rail) Bill, the Minister said that there would be a mandatory public inquiry into all aspects of the light rail proposal, including the planning and environmental issues.
