THE PD spokeswoman on education, Ms Helen Keogh, asked if the full extent of errors made in marking Leaving Certificate art and design examinations was now known.

In an adjournment debate, she said the Minister for Education had stated an investigation of the marks of 11,000 candidates was carried out last ear but last Friday the Minister confirmed there were more cases of missing marks. Why was she in the dark, or did she know the extent of the blunders?

Ms Keogh said the Minister had shielded herself behind an inquiry by Price Waterhouse, but there were other questions which needed investigation.

Waterhouse inquiry would extend to reviewing the appeals procedure for all subjects. It was an important issue and people should not come to conclusions until the inquiry reported.
