Citizens in one part of the West Dublin constituency found they had been removed from the electoral register when they went to vote on Friday.
One resident of Cruise Park Square, Tyrrelstown, said they had voted in every election from the same address since 2007, but had not been able to vote this year.
The person told The Irish Times it appeared some 24 apartments in the area had been taken off the register.
Asked about the issue, a spokeswoman for Fingal County Council said it reviewed the register annually and the onus was on each citizen to ensure their details were correct.
Dublin West is a four-seater constituency. There have been some significant changes in the constituency boundary since the last election, with the transfer out of 17,291 people in the Swords area into the new Dublin Fingal five-seater. To compensate, a chunk of Dublin Central, with a population of 13,256 people, has been transferred in.
