A reserve police constable has pleaded not guilty in Derry Crown Court to charges of stealing and attempting to steal charity money raised by colleagues in Derry between 1991 and 1995. Mr David Gamble (49), whose address was given as Strand Road Police Station, faces five theft charges and one of attempted theft. He replied "not guilty" to the charges.

He also pleaded not guilty to a charge of having a shotgun without a firearms certificate and of possessing 358 rounds of shotgun cartridges. He was released on continuing bail.
