Police came under sustained petrol bomb attack from loyalists tonight during an ongoing search of a house in the Shankill area of west Belfast.
One man was arrested after a pipe bomb was discovered during the search in Shankill Terrace, which began around 6.40 p.m.
A police spokesman said a blast bomb, 13 petrol bombs and a variety of fireworks were thrown at officers during the operation.
One was struck in the face and while two officers received ear injuries when a large firework exploded at the back of their Land Rover.

Army technical officers were called to the scene to examine the device, one of a type commonly used by loyalist paramilitaries to target Catholics.
