Two people have been arrested in north Belfast after disturbances this morning.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland said the two men were arrested in the Whitewell Road and Arthur Bridge area of north Belfast, Co Antrim, at about 7 a.m.

Police said they had reports of fireworks being thrown from the loyalist White City Estate towards the nationalist area beyond Arthur Bridge.

The arrests were made after a nationalist crowd from the Longlands Estate confronted police, throwing bottles. One of those arrested is believed to be a juvenile.
