Thursday night opening at the Project was the last exhibition in the arts centre in its present form, which gave the occasion an added charge. The Dublin-based artist Fergus Martin's wide circle of friends gathered to see his six large-scale, colour-field paintings commissioned last year for Le Confort Moderne gallery in Poitiers, as part of the L'Imaginaire Irlandaise festival.
The curator of that show, Dominique Truco, joined the party which included composer Gerald Barry and Kevin Volans, artists Finola Graham, Dorothy Cross and Alice Maher; architects Balerie Mulvin and Niall McCullough, whose new town hall opened to the pubblic and Denis Looby, who has just completed work on the new Tannery Restaurant in Durgarvan, Co Waterford.
