Cork City 2 Bray Wanderers 2

With the spoils shared at Turner’s cross, Cork City have failed to capitalise on Shamrock Rovers’ goalless draw on Friday night.

The home side turned in a battling performance to come from 1-0 down, but will be disappointed with the manner in which they let this one slip.

Bray took an early lead through Colm Tresson after fourteen minutes when City ‘keeper Michael Devine dropped an easy ball for the Wanderers man to finish.

It wasn’t until the second half that Cork managed to get back into the game with two goals within five minutes of each other. First, through Ollie Cahill with a magnificent solo effort, and then when Noel Hartigan latched on to a cross from substitute Anthony Buckley, to score his first of the season.

Buckley’s fortunes took something of a nosedive later, however, when he was penalised for a questionable foul. Not only did Bray equalise from the resulting free kick, through Paul Keegan, but Buckley also found himself heading for an early bath after he was dismissed for his vehement protests.
