The poet Christopher Daybell, a familiar figure on Dublin's Grafton Street where he sold pamphlets of his work, has died suddenly aged 61.
Born in Oxford in 1939, Mr Daybell studied modern history and political science at Trinity College Dublin. He worked in a number of teaching positions before deciding to devote himself to poetry in the early 1970s, selling his poems in pubs as well as at a number of locations on the city streets. A collection of his pamphlets, Requiem for Man Alone, was published in 1989.
He is survived by his mother and a sister. A service of thanksgiving will take place in Monkstown Parish Church tomorrow.
