Nafplio - Fourteen British and Dutch plane-spotters have been granted bail after a panel of judges dismissed accusations of spying against them in favour of lesser charges.
The 14 have been held in custody in Greece for more than a month, accused of taking forbidden photographs at a military airbase near the southern town of Kalamata. The judges ordered their release on bail of five million drachmas (€14,705) each and said they should face misdemeanour charges of obtaining national secrets. Misdemeanour convictions in Greece usually bring a fine. A verdict of spying could have resulted in up to 20 years in prison.
