A telephone helpline has been set up to offer support to the Soham community grieving the deaths of schoolgirls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman.
Trained counsellors from Cambridgeshire County Council are available to talk to Soham's 2,100 school pupils from St Andrew's Primary School and Soham Village College, school staff and their families.
A council spokesman said: "This has been set up for the school community of staff, families and pupils."
County council chief executive Mr Alan Barnish said: "This terrible tragedy will have wideranging effects, not only in the girls' home town of Soham but much further afield. The helpline has been set up to provide professional help to the many people who will be affected by recent times".
The 15-strong team was made up of educational psychologists and social workers fully trained in counselling, a spokesman said, adding: "We will keep this service going for as long as it's needed". The helpline number is 01223 718623.
The council has also set up an online book of condolence on its website, www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk. A book of condolence is also being placed in St Andrew's Church, Soham.
