Police today condemned nationalist youths who threw petrol bombs during disturbances at a sectarian interface in north Belfast last night.
The trouble was brought to an end when police worked with community representatives to calm the situation.
The PSNI said two petrol bombs were thrown when a crowd of nationalist youths gathered in the Twaddell Avenue area.
Police had to remain in the area overnight to prevent trouble restarting. There were no injuries reported.
"This was an unprovoked sectarian attack and fortunately, this time, no-one was hurt," PSNI Inspector Gavin Kirkpatrick said. "It may have been a very different situation if one of the petrol bombs thrown had hit someone."
He said people involved in such attacks must stop and realise the seriousness of their actions.
