THE blonde widow of the late Greek prime minister Andreas Papandreou, Dimitra Liani, was named his sole heir and described as his "only great love" in two wills published in the Athens press yesterday.
Papandreou left nothing to his four children, saying in his will that his name was a good enough inheritance.
Liam (41), a glamorous, ex Olympic Airways flight attendant, stole his heart in 1988 while she was serving him drinks on an airliner. Their flaunted extramarital affair shocked the nation. He divorced his second American wife of 37 years to marry Liani in 1989 and for years she was branded an opportunist who exploited her relationship with Papandreou.
"When I go, Dimitra will certainly be in danger," Papandreou said in his will. "She will be held responsible for many things. So I call on all my friends to protect her by all means.
Lilo McLean, widow of the actor who appeared for years in television commercials and magazine ads as the "Marlboro Man" - and died last year from lung cancer - is suing Philip Morris and other tobacco companies.
The lawsuit claims that David McLean sometimes smoked five packets of cigarettes while posing for a single commercial. He died last October, aged 73.
Joanne Dru, a heroine of countless Hollywood westerns including the classics Red River and Size Wore a Yellow Ribbon, has died at her home in Beverly Hills. She was 74.
After beginning her career as a model and Broadway chorus girl, Dru was spotted sunbathing by director Howard Hawks, who immediately put her in Red River.
Ozzy Osbourne, the hard living veteran of heavy metal music, said he has formed a record label to serve as an antidote to the corporate nature of the music business.
Ozz Records will be a "small, intimate, artist oriented label" with offices in London and Los Angeles, he said in a statement.
