COL Tom Parker, Dutch born manager of Elvis Presley, has died of a stroke. He was 87.
From 1955 until Presley's death in 1977, Parker promoted only the "King" but following the singer's death a court ruled he had no legal right to, or interest in the Presley estate.
Irwin Levine, who co wrote the hit song Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Old Oak Tree, has died at the age of 58 in Livingston, New Jersey. The song became an anthem of hope during the 15 month US hostage crisis in Iran that ended in January 1981.
Bosnians are waiting to see whether Yusuf Islam, the singer formerly known as Cat Stevens, will perform at a concert he is hosting in Sarajevo tomorrow. The former 1960s pop star who converted to Islam has not sung in public for more than 17 years.
