FORMER European Commission president Jacques Delors said yesterday it was the first he had heard of a report that the presidency of the European Central Bank had been earmarked for him.

The German economic weekly Wirtschaftswoche reported the job would go to Delors in return for French acceptance that the central bank would have its headquarters in Frankfurt.
