FORMER British prime minister Margaret Thatcher named last week by the Spice Girls as their political role model has sent them a Christmas card, the Daily Telegraph reported yesterday.
The group's comments last week that "Thatcher was the first Spice Girl, the pioneer of our ideology Girl Power", were reported in every British national newspaper. Even the Financial Times devoted as much space as the tabloids to singer Victoria's opinion that the current Prime Minister is a boring pillock".
Tina Turner will have to find new builders to finish work on her French Riviera villa, after the current building firm was accused of tax fraud. It was found to be employing 10 Italian workers without declaring their salaries to the tax authorities, and its boss was indicted on employment law charges. Legal sources indicate Turner may have to foot the bill for the unpaid tax and social security charges herself.
