A pedestrian died this morning after being knocked down by a lorry in Ballina, Co Mayo.
The incident took place on O’Rahilly Street at about 8.00am.
The woman (65) was pronounced dead at the scene and her body has been taken to Castlebar hospital.
The road is currently closed for a forensic collision examination and diversions are in place.
Elsewhere, Sebastian Gajda (25) was killed yesterday when his motorbike crashed into a parked car in Co Cork.
The dead man’s 27-year-old brother Bartosz, a pillion passenger on the bike, was seriously injured in the crash at about 6.45pmoutside the Wild Goose Bar and Restaurant at Quarterstown on the old Mallow to Cork Road.
Gardaí said Mr Gadja died at the scene while his brother was in a critical condition at Cork University Hospital.
